How do I sell tickets online for my dance social, class or congress?
How do you sell tickets for a dance event?
Selling tickets online for a social, a class or a congress: what you need, what it costs in Mexico, Argentina and Spain, and when the money arrives.
The short answer
To sell tickets online you need three things: an event page where people can buy, a way to take card payments and a list of who paid for the door. On Dancetomic all three come together and posting the event is free: you connect your payout account once, add your ticket types with their prices and the money goes straight into your account, not ours.
What changes by country is the payment provider and the fee. Everything is on Your payouts with Dancetomic, with examples in your currency.
Why sell in advance
A social that sells advance tickets knows how many people are coming before the doors open. That tells you whether you need another person at the bar, a bigger room or a different date. And people who already paid almost always show up, even when it rains.
Advance tickets also make the door easier: instead of taking cash and giving change, you scan a code and people walk in. When there is a queue at eleven at night, that matters.
Which ticket types to offer
The usual setup is an early-bird ticket slightly cheaper than the door price, to reward people who decide early. Congresses and festivals add the full pass, the party pass and sometimes a VIP or couple pass. For classes, a single class and a pack of four or eight work well.
You can mix both in the same event: some tickets online and the rest at the door, as always. Selling online does not mean you have to stop taking cash.
What it costs
In Mexico and Argentina payments go through Mercado Pago. The buyer pays the price plus our fee —5 % in Mexico and Argentina— and Mercado Pago takes its own fee from your account, just like when you charge on your own.
In Spain and the eurozone payments go through Stripe. Our fee is 3 % and the Stripe fee is already included in what the buyer pays, so you receive the full price you set.
When the money arrives
With Mercado Pago you choose in your own account: instantly with a higher fee, or after 10, 14, 18, 30 or 35 days, depending on the country, with a lower one. With Stripe the money goes to your bank account automatically; the first payout takes about seven days from your first sale, and after that it arrives a few days after each sale.
How to start
Post your event at dancetomic.com/publicar —with the link to your Instagram post or by filling in the form— and connect your account in Payouts. If we already publish your events from Instagram, your page already exists: you only need to connect payouts and add your tickets.
