Delete your account
How to do it, what gets removed and what is kept.
Last updated:
From the app or the website
It is immediate and you do not need to write to us:
- Go to My account.
- Scroll to the bottom and press Delete my account.
- We tell you what will be lost — how many posts, how many events you said you were going to — and if you confirm, it is deleted there and then.
If you cannot sign in
If you have lost access to your email or already uninstalled the app, write to us at hello@dancetomic.com from the address you signed up with, or tell us what your username was. We check and confirm when it is done.
What is deleted
- Your profile: name, email, photo, description and settings.
- Your posts, comments and ratings.
- Which events you said you were going to.
- Who you follow and who follows you.
- Your private conversations.
- Visits to your profile, and anyone you had blocked.
What is kept, and why
Two things, and both because they affect other people:
- Events you organised stay in the listing, but without an owner. People are signed up to them and their address is circulating: your leaving cannot cancel someone else’s night out. If someone claims that Instagram account, they inherit them.
- Tickets you booked are kept without your name. They are the organiser’s record of a sale, and deleting them would throw off the headcount for an event that may not have happened yet.
We may also keep, for a time, whatever we need in order to meet a legal obligation or to deal with a report already under way. Everything else goes.
Deleting only some data
You do not have to delete the whole account to remove things. From My account you can stop appearing in the community, choose who sees which events you are going to, or keep your profile out of Google. Posts and comments can be deleted one by one where they are.
If you want something specific removed and cannot find where, write to us at hello@dancetomic.com.
