Privacy policy

What we keep, what for, who we share it with, and how to have it deleted.

Who is responsible for your data

Amazing Capital LLC, registered at 651 N Broad St, Suite 201, Middletown, DE 19709, United States. You can write to us at hello@dancetomic.com about anything to do with this policy.

Dancetomic is a listings service for salsa, bachata and other dance events, with a website and an app. This policy covers both.

What we keep

If you have no account, we keep nothing about you. You can browse the whole listing without signing up and without leaving any trace tied to you.

If you sign up, we keep:

  • What you give us when creating the account: your name, your email address, a username and, if you want, your photo, a description, your province and country, the dances you practise and your Instagram account.
  • What you do in the app: which events you say you are going to and on which date, which events you like, who you follow, your posts, comments and ratings, and your private conversations.
  • Visits to your profile: we keep a record of who has opened your profile, and that list is shown to you.
  • If you book a ticket: the details the organiser needs to identify you at the door.

We use no tracking or advertising cookies. That is why you will not see a consent banner: the analytics we use count visits without cookies and without identifying anyone. We do store things in your browser so the site works — your session, the last city you looked at — and none of that leaves your device.

What we use it for

  • To make the app work: signing in, seeing your listings, writing to someone.
  • To show other people what you choose to show, within the limits you set in your privacy settings.
  • To send you emails: your city’s weekly listing if you turned it on, and notices about tickets you book. The weekly listing can be switched off from your account.
  • To moderate: reviewing reports and removing what breaks the rules.
  • To know how many people use the site, in aggregate and without identifying anyone.

We do not sell your data, and we do not pass it to advertisers.

What others see, and what you decide

Your profile, your posts and your comments are visible to other registered people. You decide about the rest, from My account:

  • Appearing in the community. If you turn this off, you do not show up in the list of people or in the search.
  • Who sees which events you are going to. Everyone, only people you follow, only people who follow you, or nobody. The total number of people going to an event is public in every case; what you decide is whether your name appears in the list.
  • Whether your profile can appear on Google. This is off by default. Only if you turn it on does your profile become public on the internet.
  • Blocking someone. You stop seeing each other, in both directions.

Who we share it with

Only with the companies needed to make this work, and only for that: Google (Firebase, which handles sign-up and sign-in), Supabase (the database), Vercel (where the site is hosted) and the service that sends the emails. None of them use it for their own purposes.

We will also hand it over if a competent authority requires us to, or if it is necessary to prevent harm or defend our rights.

Your data is processed on servers in the European Union and the United States. If you are in the European Union, that transfer relies on the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

For as long as your account is open. If you delete it, we remove your profile and everything hanging off it. We may keep, for a time, whatever we need in order to meet a legal obligation or to deal with a report already under way.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you the data we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to stop using it for something specific, or for a copy to take to another service. Write to us at hello@dancetomic.com and we will reply.

To delete your account, go to My account and press «Delete my account». We tell you first what will be lost, and once you confirm it is deleted straight away: your profile, your posts, your comments, the events you said you were going to, and your conversations.

Any events you organised stay in the listing without an owner: people are signed up to them and their address is circulating, and your leaving cannot cancel the night for someone who planned to go. Tickets you booked are kept without your name, because they are the organiser’s record of a sale.

If you think we have got something wrong, you can complain to the data protection authority in your country. In Spain that is the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos.

Children

Dancetomic is not aimed at people under 16 and we do not knowingly ask them for data. If you tell us an account belongs to a child, we review it and remove it.

Changes

If we change something important, we update the date above and say so inside the app. It is worth looking again from time to time.
