Thanks so much to everyone at @nashvillerueda and @nashvillesalsadancing for a beautiful weekend full of Roots & Rhythm. We had a whirlwind tour through a few hundred years of Cuban dance and musical history and came away, we hope, understanding how our styles of dance—whether we dance these days casino, on1, on2, on 3, on 3 1/2 (you know who you are)—it’s not all that different and we all can trace our preferred style back to the same dancestors (copyright 2026 on that word 2026). Nashville has such a wonderful dance community and it was lovely to be a part of it 😊 Here’s a quick look at some of ideas we discussed, dancing to the same music a tiempo and contratiempo with the wonderful @ava_jurkiewicz from @villecasineras.
